About FindSomeHelp.com
It was roughly 10 years ago that I had begun offering web development services in a semi-proffesional manner. I created findsomehelp.com to stand as a visible symbol representing the policies from which I base my business.
About Me: Josh Houghtelin
I've been known as a 'tech' with quick and accurate resolutions to nearly any computer-related issue for as long as I can remember. Now I'm the Director of Technology for an Election Systems & Services company. I'm personally responsible for nearly 200 vote tabulation servers in 200 Counties across three states. I'm also (and this is what I prefer doing) a full time developer creating business software for use on or in conjunction with the web. One of the Nations largest Medicare Supplement Insurance sales forces rely (nearly completely) on software I have developed and solutions I have sourced. This is not to mention the large number of businesses and individuals I have and still do provide some manner of services to. It would be a wild understatement to say I love my career and still retain an undying thirst for education and resources.
The Policy: Help People
With an unmeasureable amount of field experience and an equal amount of study I have to say there is one principle that has stuck with me since I was too young to quote and bill proffesionally and that is:
Approach every business, individual, project and idea as if my job is to simply consider all the possible resources available and help deduce the question at hand in attempt to conclude the the best possible route to the most effective and permanent resolution.
In short, I help people. I'd much rather help someone find the best solution to their question by educating them on the topics at hand (or what the different resources available to them can offer) then tell a potential a customer that my skill set is exactly what they need. I don't believe that producing 'solutions' was ever meant to be a crank-widgets job which leaves you pushing the finite skill set within the confines of four walls and inter-office politics. Yes, This does mean I do a lot of "work" or "consulting" and no I don't bill for it.
When all is said and done, findsomehelp.com exists to be a visible symbol of how this policy has worked for me.
